Adding media using a Rich Text Module
Users can upload images, video, and audio files to any ePortfolio in a couple of different ways. Rich text modules allow for users to put media in line with text. Here's how to do this:
Go to the your rich text module and click 'Edit'
While in the 'Edit' mode, place your cursor where you'd like the image to appear
Click on the "Insert Media" button
Click the "Choose File" button
Find and double-click on the image you'd like to insert
Image types supported are JPG/JPEG, GIF, and PNG. After double-clicking or clicking on the image and then the "Open" button, the image will automatically download.
Select your alignment options (images only) and click on the 'Insert' button
Click the 'Save' button and publish as needed
Remember that "Save" will only save the content within the module, but it will not be viewable to those with access to your ePortfolio until you've published.
Adding media using an Image/Video/Audio Module
The Image/Video/Audio module is used to upload media files in their own module within the page, absent of any text. This is especially useful for things such as PDFs, so that they display neatly and can be zoomed and full-screened as needed.
Select and an Image/Video/Audio module to the page or section of your ePortfolio where you wish to display the content
Click on 'Edit' within the module, followed by 'Replace This Media'
The difference between "Replace This Media with Large Video (Beta)" and "Replace this Media?" is that the first option is only for videos that are up to 1 gigabytes in size while the standard "Replace this Media?" allows for the uploading of multiple different file types.
Choose your media source and select a file or paste your URL where asked
You have three options when inserting media for source:
- From My Computer - Locally saved files you wish to directly upload.
- Media From Web - Allows you to choose from a list of services and use their specific embed codes to place them within the module
- Media From Web (New) - Allows for a huge variety of externally hosted media to be embedded within the ePortfolio wth a URL (provided the content is completely public) or embed code; this is the option Digication suggests you use first when embedding externally hosted media.
Click on the 'Done' button and publish your module
Regardless of which source you choose to embed from, clicking on the 'Done' button after making your selection will thereby place the media within the module in your page. The last step to making this available to your viewers is just to click on the "Publish" tab to publish the module.
