Dear Digication Community,
New updates of the Mozzila Firefox 23 and Google Chrome 26 browsers are preventing active content added to ePortfolios from loading automatically. The good news is that there is a solution to the problem!
Mozilla Firefox 23 and Google Chrome 26 introduced Mixed Active Content Blocking- a security enhancement that prevents active content delivered through an unsecure (HTTP) connection from displaying on a secure (HTTPS) website. This security improvement prevents active content, such as JavaScript, embedded objects, Flash animations, and streaming video or audio, from loading automatically in your ePortfolio.
Users of Mozilla Firefox 23 and Google Chrome 26 need to temporarily disable content blocking in order to view embedded content on that page by following the next steps:
Mozilla Firefox 23 users:
First, temporarily disable content blocking in Mozilla Firefox 23 or later versions of the browser.
Then, click the shield icon picture in the address bar and choose Disable Protection on This Page from the dropdown menu. The icon in the address bar will change to an orange warning triangle picture to remind you that insecure content is being displayed.
At the end, reload the page to re-enable content blocking.
Google Chrome 26 users:
First, temporarily disable content blocking in Google Chrome 26 or later versions of the browser.
Then, click the shield icon in the address bar and select theLoad Anywaylink.
The URL in the address bar will show the picture of https:// crossed out to indicate that the page is not fully secure.
At the end, reload the page to re-enable content blocking.
After performing these steps your ePortfolio’s embedded active content should display as expected.
