Display Issue Update and Restore Phases

Dear User Community,

We know you want to hear about changes in advance and we're trying to balance that with our top priority of restoring functional e-Portfolios to their owners. We want to implement the components of our solution as soon as they are tested and ready to go, but we will attempt to give you as much advance notice as we can. We really appreciate your patience and support through out this process. There will be two phases to complete the restoration.

Phase 1. Auto Restore
The good news is that we can restore the majority of portfolios that have been affected automatically. We will begin automatic restoration within 24 hours of the group of affected e-Portfolios that have not been updated since 11/24. Those are the simplest for us to restore. From a user perspective, the e-Portfolio will just go back to the way it was before and you won’t have to do anything.

Phase 2. Manual Restore
This will help restore the remaining e-Portfolios. Some of the affected e-Portfolios were edited after 11/24. In such cases, we will not attempt to automatically restore and override more recent content with older content. Instead, we will provide backed up versions of their e-Portfolios so users can make a personal determination of their best use of recovered content. After the Auto Restore phase is completed, we can finalize our list of users who need a multi-step restoration process and begin giving them backup versions from key points in time.

For most users an additional, clearly labeled backup version of their e-Portfolio will simply appear under “My e-Portfolios” as they login. However, in the cases where we detect more than one restoreable e-Portfolio, we will offer multiple versions so that a user may get as much of their content back as possible. Again, the backed up e-Portfolios will be clearly labeled, including the date of the backup.

We are preparing clear instructions and an FAQ which will help users understand what they are seeing and how they can work with the backup versions. We would be more than happy to provide you with these documents for your own distribution as well.

Finally, to make the merging of content between e-Portfolios easier, we are preparing a move/copy tool which will allow user to move sections, pages, and modules between e-Portfolios. This tool will be available by the end of the week. We will be providing a detailed help guide to you before the actual release so that you will have a chance to familiarize yourself with the interface before the release.

We will send another update before we begin Phase 2: Manual Restore. With that update, we will also be able to send the list of users who will be receiving backup versions of their e-Portfolios.

Digication will continue to put every resource available to make this restoration process as painless as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at support@digication.com.

Kind regards,

The Digication Team
